1. What is the smallest number of lines that need to be moved so that this equation can be seen to be correct?

Hint: One answer is ‘2’, but it can be done with fewer moves! Think around the problem and reflect...

2. In this number crossword, every row and column contains the same numbers and mathematical signs, but they are arranged in a different order each time. Can you find the correct order to arrive at the totals shown, both horizontally and vertically?

Hint: Note down the ways in which 4, 2,6 and 1 can be combined using x, -, and + to produce the required number totals.
