TransFix® 
TransFix® is a preservative solution that maintains cellular integrity while at the same time preserving antigenicity. It can be used to preserve and stabilise body fluids including blood, CSF, bone marrow and fine needle aspirates. mSIN3A and the regulation of cell proliferation and differentiation

The bHLHZIPP protein Max interacts with both the Myc and Mad family proteins to form heterodimers that specifically bind DNA and regulate transcription. Myc-Max complexes act as transcriptional activators, while Mad-Max complexes have the opposite function.

mSin3A is a mammalian homolog of the Saccharomyces cerevisiae transcriptional corepressor Sin3p. mSIN3A binds to the Mad/Max family of transcription factors via the first N-terminal 25 residues of Mad, known as the mSin3 interaction domain, or SID. The Mad/Max heterodimer and mSin3A form ternary complexes that bind DNA and modify Mad activity, and are thus involved in regulating cell proliferation and differentiation.

ELISA Kit for Gelsolin (GS)


Gelsolin is an actin-regulatory protein that modulates actin assembly and disassembly, and is believed to regulate cell motility in vivo through modulation of the actin network. In addition to its actin-regulatory function, gelsolin has also been proposed to affect cell growth.It is first isolated from rabbit lung macrophages as a modulator of the cytoplasmic actin gel−sol transformation. Gelsolin can sever actin filaments and cap the fast-growing ends of the filaments in vitro; this promotes actin disassembly. Gelsolin also has the ability to nucleate actin polymerization. These functions are activated by Ca2 and inhibited by polyphosphoinositides (PPIs). Such observations have led to the view that gelsolin regulates actin reorganization in response to changes in the concentrations of Ca2 and PPIs in living cells.

PNA Mutation Detection Kits


PNA is a synthetic oligonucleotide with peptide backbones instead of sugar groups. It binds to its complementary DNA template sequence with a higher affinity and specificity than DNA-DNA binding. The resulting PNA-DNA duplex is not recognized by DNA polymerases and thus makes it the ideal clamp to inhibit PCR of the wtDNA and allows for amplification of the unobstructed mutated DNA sequences. The PNA clamps are sensitive enough to discriminate against single-base mismatches in nucleotides and are considered as one of the best options for researches on DNA diagnostics.

Cytomark - Flow Cytometry Reagents

  • TransFix® – A Cellular stabilisation Reagent.

TransFix® is a CE marked cellular stabilisation solution that when added to Whole Blood, Cerebrospinal Fluid (CSF), Bone Marrow and Fine Needle Aspirates, preserves cell surface antigens for a minimum of 10 days. 
TransFix® is added to whole blood samples at the time of venepuncture and provides stabilisation to permit extended storage and/or transportation. This allows greater flexibility for testing and potential reduction in costs e.g. by allowing samples to be batched.

CD4 Blood Controls are available in two formats; CD4 Normal - between 410 and 1590 cells/µl and CD4 Low - between 200 and 300 cells/µl, which simulates CD4 levels in advanced HIV/AIDS patients.

Atg16L - a Crohn's disease susceptibility gene

Autophagy is a process of intracellular bulk degradation in which cytoplasmic components including organelles are sequestered within double-membrane vesicles that deliver the contents to the lysosome/vacuole for degradation. Autophagy has two ubiquitin-like conjugation systems, the Atg12 and LC3-II systems. In the Atg12 conjugation system, the Atg16L-Atg12-Atg5 forms a complex that elongate autophagic isolation membrane. After completion of the formation of the autophagosome, the Atg12-Atg5-Atg16L complex dissociates from the membrane. It has been shown that ATG16L1 is a Crohn's disease susceptibility gene.

ACE2 - Implicated in Hypertension and Diabetes


The renin-angiotensin system (RAS) regulates system blood pressure and renal function. Angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) is an enzymatically active homolog of ACE, being highly specific for angiotensin cleavage. ACE2 has direct effects on cardiac functions. It is expressed predominantly in vascular endothelial cells of the heart and kidney. ACE2 converts angiotensin I to angiotensin 1-9. ACE2 was also identified as a functional receptor for SARS coronavirus.

It has been shown that ACE2 is implicated in pathophysiological states, including myocardial ischaemia, heart failure, renal failure, atherosclerosis, and diabetes. If ACE2 is contributing to the development of hypertension is currently under investigation.

Autoimmunity - Skin Blistering Disease

Pemphigus is an autoimmune blistering disease that targets skin and mucous membrane, caused by autoantibodies to cell surface antigens of stratified epithelia of mucous membranes and skin. These antibodies bind to calcium dependent adhesion molecules in cell surface desmosomes, notably desmoglein 1 (Dsg1) in PF and desmoglein 3 (Dsg3) in PV. Pemphigus patients with both mucosal and skin lesions have antibodies to both Dsg1 and Dsg3.

Bullous Pemphigoid (BP) is an autoimmune disease of the skin and mucous membranes. Skin lesions of BP patients show separation of basal keratinocytes from the underlying dermis leading to subepidermal blisters. Patients with BP have circulating IgG autoantibodies against components of hemidesmosome, and target two distinct molecules, BP230 and BP180. BP180 is considered the target molecule to which pathogenic IgG autoantibodies bind.

Epidermolysis Bullosa Acquisita (EBA) is a chronic subepidermal blistering disease of the skin and mucous membranes. EBA is characterised by the presence of (IgG) antibodies targeting the NC1 domain of Type VII collagen. MBLI has developed a highly specific, highly sensitive ELISA kit for the detection of the NC1 and NC2 domain of Type VII Collagen.

Elastin is a protein in connective tissue that is elastic and allows many tissues in the body to resume their shape after stretching or contracting. Elastin helps skin to return to its original position when it is poked or pinched. Elastin is also an important load-bearing tissue in the bodies of mammals and used in places where mechanical energy is required to be stored.Elastin is primarily composed of the amino acids glycine, valine, alanine, and proline.
It is a specialized protein with a molecular weight of 64 to 66 kDa, and an irregular or random coil conformation made up of 830 amino acids.Elastin is made by linking many soluble tropoelastin protein molecules, in a reaction catalyzed by lysyl oxidase, to make a massive insoluble, durable cross-linked array. The amino acid responsible for these cross-links is lysine.

CLUSTERIN - Potential Biomarker of Cancers and Type 2 Diabetes


Clusterin (Apolipoprotein J; ApoJ; SP-40,40; Sulfated glycoprotein-2; SGP-2) is a heterodimeric highly conserved disulfide-linked multifunctional glycoprotein being expressed in a wide variety of tissues and secreted in all human fluids. Clusterin is supposed to have a protective role against human atherosclerosis. In patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus serum clusterin levels are significantly higher than in healthy individuals. Furthermore, body fluids level of clusterin from patients with malignant tumors, such as breast cancer, bladder cancer and prostate cancer, are elevated. Variants of the CLU gene are associated with Alzheimer’s disease. CLU expression is increased in Alzheimer’s disease patients. In summary, clusterin likely provides a promising novel diagnostic marker in many major human diseases like diabetes, cancers or neurodegenerative diseases.
